World Tester\u2019s Day<\/strong> celebrated annually on the 9th of September<\/strong> to mark the discovery of the first-ever computer bug in 1947.<\/p>

The story started when Grace Hopper<\/a><\/em>, a computer scientist at Harvard University, was working on the Mark II Calculator<\/a>.<\/p>

On that particular day, Hopper and her team traced an error in the Mark II Calculator, caused by a moth trapped into one of the machine’s components. The moth was removed from the mechanism and taped in a log book with the note “First actual case of bug being found.”<\/strong>

This moment marked the origin of the term “bug”<\/strong> in the context of computer science. <\/p>

While the term \u201cbug\u201d had been used in engineering to describe small glitches or problems for decades before this, the discovery of this literal bug brought the term into the realm of computing, where it has remained ever since.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Over time, this historic event became a symbol of the importance of software testing<\/strong> and quality assurance<\/strong>. In honor of that first \u201cdebugging\u201d event, the tech industry now celebrates World Tester\u2019s Day<\/strong> every year on September 9th<\/strong>.<\/p>
